Obviously it was a disappointing result last night both locally here in Surrey Heath and nationally for the Conservatives. Of course, I’m particularly disappointed my friend Ed McGuinness wasn’t successful here in Surrey Heath. I truly believe he fought a strong positive campaign and would have been a great MP for our area, but sadly it wasn’t to be.
I’ll post some more detailed thoughts over the weekend once the dust has settled a bit but for now I just want to say huge congratulations to Alasdair Pinkerton on becoming our local MP. I don’t know him well but, while of course we have our political differences, he seems a decent man who genuinely cares about our local area. I’m looking forward to working with him constructively over the coming years on the issues facing our borough.
For now, I’m just looking forward to a weekend off campaigning!
